Our Surface Pro 4 got an auto update, it never came back on again after restarting. After a couple of searches online, the proposed steps I followed on a number os sites, Microsoft's support site included ; did not solve our issue.
But this did work. I pressed the POWER and the VOLUME UP buttons at the same time and held it for 15 seconds, after which I saw the Surface logo on the screen, I kept holding the buttons down then it took me to the UEFI configuration where I did not update anything and just pressed the Restart button.
After which the device booted-up normally....for now...
